When we first visited Hawaii in 2005, we heard about a prayer movement called Transformation Hawaii. The leaders of that movement prayed for us and passed on what they had started on Oahu at Castle High, letting us know it was a transferable anointing.
Visiting Hawaii in 2007 after we had brought it to Portland and seen it spread. We were invited to come back and speak with the leaders of Transformation Hawaii at a conference for teachers who wanted to pray for their schools. We were so happy to share of the good fruit of how God spread this great thing around the Northwest.
We brought it to Portland, and it spread like wild-fire! It went to the feeder schools to Roosevelt High, to a high school in Beaverton, Parkrose, and even down to Albany. Eventually, we brought it back to Hawaii to Kealakehe High. Paul and Doreen Chinen were our first contacts. They are a lovely, humble couple who serve with YWAM in Kona. Paul’s brother, Pastor Cal Chinen on Oahu, and his son Daniel, were the ones who inspired us by what they started up simply praying for and serving at their local high school. (Here is a recent picture of Daniel, now a pastor, husband, and father!) The statistics have shown 50-85% of behavior problems reduced as people chose to pray for every student and staff by name in their own prayer closets and to occasionally do prayer walks. It was a simple model back in 2005, and it has spread around the world. We wanted you to see who inspired us back then. You’ll have to read my book to get the full ever-growing story of this.
